During the Design Modelling Symposium Paris 2017 students of the cluster´s master program »Open Design« are giving a workshop with the title »On Modelling Growth«
Dates: 16 - 17 the September
This workshop will investigate growth through intuitive and analytic explorations with two elements, an infinite line and a discrete bond. The participants will develop a design perspective on how geometry can be manipulated at the local and global scale to generate growing patterns and structures, creating a constant feedback through an iterative and recursive process.
The workshop is part of the larger symposium running until the 20th September including keynote speakers: Achim MENGES, University of Stuttgart. Antoine PICON, Harvard University. Carlo RATTI, MIT. Jane BURRY, Swinburne University. Nadir ABDESSEMED, Transsolar. Kasper JOARDENS, Gent University. Chris MACKEY, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Jean François CARON, Ecole des Ponts Paris Tech / Laboratoire Navier. Caitlin MUELLER, MIT. Sophie LE BOURVA, Arup. Tomas DIEZ, IAAC. Usman HAQUE, Thingful / Pachube. Nader TERHANI, Cooper Union.
